Class Overview

Explore the art of pottery through hands-on learning in our structured Beginner Wheel Class, designed to guide you from foundational skills to refined techniques.

Session Structure

Start Dates: Sessions 1 starts in January and July

Class Layout:

  • Week 1: Make (Multiple Pieces)

  • Week 2: Finish

  • Week 3: Trim

  • Week 4: Pick Up

Included:

5 pounds of clay

Items Not Included:

  • Tools can be rented for $8 or purchased for $10

  • Firings

  • Some glaze colors

Syllabus by Class

  • Session 1 (Jan/Jul): Cylinders and cravings

  • Session 2 (Feb/Aug): Cylinder shaping (choking and flaring) and transfers

  • Session 3 (Mar/Sep): Shaping cylinders (bellowing out) and glaze

  • Session 4 (Apr/Oct): Handles

  • Session 5 (Jun/Nov): Mugs and Glaze layering techniques

  • Session 6 (Jul/Dec): Trimming

Enrollment Policies

  • Building Progressively: Each session builds on the last, so regular attendance is encouraged.

  • Mid-Session Entry: If joining after Session 3, please note that students who start in January will get more focus during the first 20 minutes of class.

  • Advancement Options: If students wish to progress faster, they may request a demo to jump to the desired session.

  • Make up days are only allowed in a similar class. If the instructor is unable to attend a class the 4th week will serve as the glaze day.

Sunday at 1pm, Monday at 6pm, and Thursday at 11 am.

Event Policies

Refunds, Transfers and Credits:

No refunds. You can transfer to another class or events. Missed classes/events forfeit transfer for the event or classes if the studio is notified with 48 hours prior to.

Event Artwork Collection:

Pieces can take up to 4 weeks to complete the firing process. You will receive an email notification when your artwork is ready. Please collect your artwork within 30 days of receiving the notification.

Class Policies

Class Cancellation/ Rescheduling Policy:

We will do our best to make up any classes that are missed due to staffing issues. Students who missed class are welcome to join another day, but class will not be extended due to you missing class.

Studio Policies

Dress Policy:

Wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty. Please bring a hair tie if you have long hair. Make sure your shoes are non-slip.

Firing Process Disclaimer:

While we take every precaution in the firing process, accidents can happen. In the event that your piece does not make it through the firing process, we will offer you a 50% discount on your next event.
