Village Clay Studio is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and diverse community where individuals from all backgrounds can learn, grow, and master the art of ceramics in a safe and creative environment. Our mission is to foster an inclusive and diverse community where individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including those with disabilities, can learn and excel in ceramics. As a minority-led organization, we are dedicated to breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation of ceramic artists.
Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate, dedicated, and community-oriented individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Village Clay Studio and ensuring that our mission is fulfilled. We are looking for leaders with expertise in various areas, including but not limited to nonprofit leadership, fundraising, grant writing, community outreach, finance, marketing, and scaling operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight to help guide the growth and development of Village Clay Studio.
Fundraising: Lead efforts to secure funding through grants, donations, and other fundraising activities.
Community Engagement: Strengthen ties with the Charlotte community, particularly with local artists, philanthropists, and cultural organizations.
Advocacy: Promote the mission of Village Clay Studio and advocate for the inclusion of ceramics in educational and cultural programming.
Governance: Participate in board meetings, committee work, and decision-making processes to ensure the studio operates effectively and ethically.
Media & Marketing: Assist in raising the visibility of the studio through media outreach, social media, and other marketing initiatives.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
A strong commitment to our mission and values.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit management, fundraising, grant writing, community engagement, finance, marketing, or arts education.
A deep connection to the Charlotte community, with a desire to make a positive impact on the local art scene.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Board Member Commitment:
Attend & actively participate in meetings and committees.
Prepare for meetings, engage in discussions, complete assignments.
Advocate for the studio, participate in fundraising, and contribute financially.
Maintain confidentiality and promote diversity & inclusion.
Work collaboratively.
